Il cortometraggio che abbiamo pubblicato nell'articolo Ontwerp.tv: Cortometraggio Dal Sud Africa, mostrava una qualità e idea molto originali di realizzazione, arte e grafica. Così abbiamo pensato di approfondire l'argomento su Ontwerp.tv. Ci siamo messi in contatto con Anthony, e è scaturita l'intervista in esclusiva che segue con altre immagini.
L'intervista è in inglese, e Anthony ci parla della loro storia, come lavorano e come nascono le loro idee.

First of all some Ontwerp.tv speaks to us: birth, purposes, developments, in that field operated, and so on.
Anthony Dart - Ontwerp.tv :
Ontwerp is now almost seven years old now - we have been providing design and animation services both locally and abroad, although the majority of our work comes from local customers we do occasionally have international clients the latest of which is from Stockholm in Sweden. My goal from the start was and is to place a very important emphasis on design no matter which media we are involved in. So wether i am designing a type face or doing 3D animated characters i always compound my design philosophy and methodology in the people i work with. Ontwerp operates mainly in the fields of design for print, new media, screen design in its various formats including design and animation for the commercials and broadcast sectors.

We are a very small company with myself operating as designer, animation director, illustrator and compositor. I have a core team of 3 permanent 3D artists as well as a bunch of freelancers that i work with from time to time and one producer. As i mentioned above we work mostly locally but have had clients from Korea, London and Stockholm to name a phew.

Is the inspiration of the intense activities fruit of the encounter with the customer or is born spontaneously?
Anthony Dart - Ontwerp.tv :
If i understand the question correctly the majority of our clients have a very specific idea in mind when it comes to the briefs but we are always trying to ad value and expand upon their ideas when we get the chance. We certainly do love it when clients give us those rare opportunities to come up with our own ideas and treatments and i think this is when we are at our best. We also do allot of our own internal projects like designing typefaces etc, one of which i just completed for Neo2 magazine in Madrid, i love to experiment and explore new techniques that i might not have had the time or requirements to accomplish otherwise. My way of working is very spontaneous and organic as not to limit the results.

When you realize a job is inspired / suggested by Your Client or are they born from Your spontaneous ideas?
Anthony Dart - Ontwerp.tv :
Our ideas are usually tailored to a specific brief from client and in this case what we do is ad value by perhaps taking it into a new direction or trying to expand upon it. When i realize concepts though i like to keep things quite loose - so i will have a rough idea in my head but there is a large part of it that relies on my subconscious and randomly letting things develop
around already established concepts or narratives.

What tools done use of job used for realizing Your ideas (software, equipments, and so street)?
Anthony Dart - Ontwerp.tv :
As far as our tool set we usually start with sketching up ideas and boards manually and then from their take it into photoshop. We use illustrator for vector work Autodesk Maya for our 3D development and animation and finally composite everything together in After FX. We use a whole bunch of other tools depending on the job but some of them might include Z Brush, Match Mover, Toxik, Flash, Final Cut Pro and finally i use Soundtrack, Reason and Logic Pro for all my audio requirements.

Prixzes and You have never thought next to the realization of a documentary or a film for the cinematographic or television market? If, outcomes?

I have never entered my work into awards because i really could not be bothered with them - and allot of the time its such a collaborative effort involving many people that ownership becomes a bit of a grey area.
